I don't understand how amazon allows these people to sell products based on false claims. This wire is at best 3/32" or 0.09375" in diameter. 12 awg, 10 awg, and 8 awg wires are 0.08080810", 0.10189", and 0.128496" respectively. This wire is less than 10 awg wire. If the wire is too small for the current draw, it will cause a voltage drop that may cause the amp to shut off, overheat or distort. It could also melt the wire shielding. Now that answers the question as to why there is an overabundance of shielding on these wires. After paying $500 dollars for an amp and sub setup I am not impressed to find out this wire could jeopardize my investment. Considering I used roughly 9' of wire at 500w I am at the bottom edge of the design limit. That is not were I intended to be. I would not recommend this wire kit for a 300w amp at 16' but it might work considering 10 awg wires can be used up to 20'.

It's a decent set. The fuse holder is fine and comes with screw-on end caps and O-rings, so it's at least splash-proof. The other crimp connectors are fine.
Biggest issue is that the nice thick power-cable that they advertise as 8GA is, in reality, nothing like! There's a LOT of insulation on this cable. From measurement of the actual internal conductor, I would say it's 12GA at best. Fortunately, this was all I needed and for the price, it was enough. But don't buy this thinking you are getting what they advertise! (Having said that, most of these power cable sets seem to suffer from the same "enhanced" advertising.)
Everything else was fine, and so if 12GA cables are enough for you... go for it!
